Hi Canat,
When we returned from our recent Altai Nomadic Trek we never really had a chance to speak to you afterwards as we rushed around to get the flight tickets and money changed etc.
I just wanted to drop a quick note to thank you for sorting the tour out for us at the last minute, and give a little bit of feedback. We know we were mailing about various options until the very last minute when our flight from Almaty was confirmed so it was great to be able to have this trip sorted out which really maximised our time. It was also a very pleasant surprise to be met at the airport when everything wasn't yet 100% confirmed.
I'm not sure what the story was with the flight though as it was only half full - it may be worth pointing our the luggage restrictions though as it ended up costing us a small fortune in excess baggage!
I do have some pretty minor feedback though. We're very used to travelling, trekking and camping so none of the following was a big deal at all for us but it may be for others booking the trip....although I appreciate we were trekking in the area before a lot of families had moved there :
- we never spent any nights in a ger and the itinery said 2 nights, with hot showers available - all our nights were in a tent
- the horseman and cook were great and we could see the horseman get more friendly with us as he got more used to us. They were really good at helping us with the river crossings but unfortunately the last day they never waited for us and we were wading knee deep and ended up with boots that won't dry for ages. Although it sounds trivial writing it, since we're travelling long term its harder to dry things out. Maybe if we had a briefing before leaving about the river crossings we'd have taken extra shoes with us to swap over - again I'm sure this was worse as there was a lot of snow melt.
- westerners are pretty used to recycling and stuff by now. It was a bit disappointing after leaving a national park to see rubbish left behind on the camp site including plastic bottles and gas cannisters. We had only just walked past signs mentioning respecting the environment and then a bunch of litter gets left when there's a car picking us up - it doesn't really give the best appearances.
All in all though we had a great trek. Spending every night in a tent suited us really well, and we were glad to be in the valleys before any herds and gers had moved there as it felt more in the wilderness. We were also glad to be able to see the area still with snow cover. We also had the challenges of the last day trying to get the horses and camel across waist deep snow which I'm sure isn't that common a thing!
We waited for a driver this morning until 7.30 for our flight but we decided we had to take a taxi then as we weren't sure how strict the check in was, so I hope we never missed them!
Please accept this feedback as positive - I don't want it to reflect on any of the staff that were there as they were all great fun to be around for our week.
Ciara would also like to thank the cook for making special meals to deal with Ciara's allergy - this was really appreciated.
Thanks again and I'll recommend Blue Wolf to anyone I hear of travelling in that area.
Regards
Darren

Hi Canat,
My recent trip with Bluewolf was superb, exceeding all expectations i had. The organisation was excellent - although we were camping rough, it was actually a pretty luxurious trip. The guide (Nerbol), cook (Natasha) and driver (Akbuzz) were outstanding and seemed to (i hope) genuinely enjoy the trip.
Many thanks and i hope to see you again sometime in the future. As discussed, I will post photos later this week of Touerkill and his family and i would be very grateful if you could forward them on by behalf (apologies on the errors in name spelling)
(i've put a selection of the photos on picassa: http://picasaweb.google.com/pjpbrum/BayanOlgyiKazakhProvinceWestMongolia#)
Best regards

Hello Canat,
We would be perfectly happy with all tents. It was a lot of fun sleeping under the starts (as long as there is no rain!).
As for the itinerary, it looks great but we would like to make some changes because it turns out we are going to do Kharkhorin and Hustai Nat.Park with our friend. Instead we would like to add the 3 days to go see the oasis you spoke of when first discussing the gobi trip. Longer days driving to make it there and back are not a problem (the memories are fading from Rasa and she is more willing now!). And then from Ongiin Hiid, go straight back to UB. Again, another long drive to get back to the city is fine. We like the pace for the rest of the tour.
Thanks again for working so hard to make us happy. It is the main reason (well that and you’re good at this) that we want to use Blue Wolf.
Regards,
Robert and Rasa

Dear Canat,
We want to thank you and Blue Wolf. Ayakuz, Bahit and Marat were wonderful travelling companions and just splendid in everyway. We enjoyed our trip immensely and hope to come again next year.
My note expressed our appreciation, but I want to say again that the friendliness, adventure, wonderful meals, exciting and excellent driving and atmosphere that Ahakuz, Bahit and Marat created in giving us a chance to experience your culture and area was truly marvellous. All three helped us feel at home in the three families which along with the nature was our main interest.
Also please thank Erka again for helping with the tickets. We were very very appeciative that she went out of her way to get us the tickets and also delighted she stayed to see the performances. We were so delighted with her company.
We will be sending photo\'s but I also want to send some materials as well.
Could you confirm the best mailing address to send a book as well.
Thanks Ellin and Arie

I have traveled with Canat since he first took clients in 1998, for two long winter trips. I have sent many friends to him, from falconers to felt makers to sheep ranchers. Every one saw what they wanted to and returned satisfied, and they all want to go back. So do I!
