The Mongolian Altai Mountains of western Mongolian offer a beautiful landscape coupled with three unique cultures - Mongolians, Kazakhs, and Tuvans. The area is rich in wildlife and provides one of the last refuges for the Altai Argali, the world's largest sheep, as well as the endangered Snow Leopard. In addition, western Mongolia is rich in archaeological sites that vary from ancient petroglyphs to stone carvings from early Turkish nomads. To travel in western Mongolia and visit this area's nomadic people between the snows covered peaks of the Altai Mountains means to experience something that cannot be repeated anywhere else in the world. On a trip though this region, one discovers new horizons, will feel the beauty of unexplored wilderness and experience the freedom of nomadic life.

Our horse treks take you through the country, where you’ll find camping in the traditional gers are a perfect way of discovering the traditional Mongol way of life. Mongolia has a unique and durable traditional culture, centered on the herding lifestyle. Herders remain semi-nomadic, moving their animals with the seasons as they have for centuries.

Here you will meet also Altai Nomadic Kazakh people and explore their cultures, especially Eagle hunting skills.



Day 1








Arrive UB










Day 1. Arrive UB

By your arrival in UB meet by our guide and transfer to 4* hotel. Take an approximately 45-minute car transfer to your hotel. 









Day 2







Visit Chinggis Khan’s statue and city tour






Today, we will do city tour. After breakfast, we start to drive towards Khan Khentii National Park, where Genghis Khan's homeland and where a rich pasture, cattle, sheep and land, since ancient times of good natural pastures. On the way, we stop near “Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex” and “XIII Century National Camp”. Chinggis khan statue complex is located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul. After picnic lunch, we continue our driving and reach Lake Khokh. Here Chinggis Khaan was entitled as Khan of Mongols in 1189 and listen to brief historical highlights about significant event in the history of Mongolia. Drive back to UB. Explore Gandan Monastery, Buddhist center in Ulaanbaatar. See Zanabazar Museum Chojin Lama temple. Lunch time in a typical Mongolian Restaurant. The winter Palace Buda Big Statue on the Hill Central market (black) (one or two hours if we have time) Typical folkloric Mongol performance (songs and dances), at the restaurant, during Dinner time (optional). Overnight in 4* hotel.







Day 3








Fly to Hovd






Arrive Hovd airport and meet by our team (guide, driver and cook). Here we will meet “Hoomii-singers”. The Hovd town was a trade center, located on the northern Silk Road with connections to Russia and China. In 1763 the Manchu administration built the fortress Sagijn Cherem (Castle). An area of about 4 ha was fenced with 3 m high and 2m wide walls. Now all 18 Mongolian ethic groups live in this province. After a lunch, drive to Durgun village, where is possible meeting with Green Toro (old woman- Buddhist), who can tell your future. Overnight in local hotel. (BLD)





Day 4







Drive to Glaciers and meet Uriakhai people






After breakfast, we will drive few hour and see the beautiful snow-capped peaks, rocky valleys and crystal clear spring waters. We can visit the nomadic Kazakh and Urianhai (one of western Mongolian ethnic groups) families and feel their grade hospitality. They live mostly on the north side of Tsamba-Garav Uul (one of the highest snow-capped mountains in Mongolia 4208 m). The place called “Tavan Belchir” /Five Pastures/.From North West side of the TsambaGarav Uul we have the chance to hike easily closer to snow caps. After lunch, drive 2-3 hrs and reach Olgii town. Overnight in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD).





Day 5








Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park







A full day drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park via Tsagaan Gol (White River) valley and through Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range at over 3000-4000 meters high. Overnight in tent/wooden house. (BLD)






Day 6-7







Trekking to/from Tavanbogd Massif









Today we’ll start our trek for 11 km toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. Pitch camp for 3 nights next to the 20 km long Potanin glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul at 4374 m above sea level is the highest in Mongolia, a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. First day, overnight in tent/wooden house. Last day, continue our driving and reach Olgii. Overnight in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD)





Day 8-9



Eagle Festival







Meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx. 400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Olgii aimag. The eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games like “BushKushi” (Try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback),”Kiss woman on horseback”,”Pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. In the evening we enjoy to have the Kazakh Concert with some traditional songs and music. Overnights in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD).






Day 10








Drive to Blue Goat Nat. Park








After early breakfast, start to drive to east about 180 km (about 5 hrs) and reach one of Kazakh Eagle hunter’s families. His house is located near “Blue Goat Specially protected area”. Overnight in wooden house. (BLD)





Day 11-13






Kazakh Eagle hunting (horse riding and eagle hunting)





Every day going with Kazakh Eagle hunter by the wild big remote mountains, we can watch and have a part in hunting with golden eagle for rabbit, fox, wild cat and other animals. This place has many wild endangers animals and birds like snow leopard, Altai argali and Ibex, lynx, wolverine and bearded vulture, black vulture, different kinds of falcons, golden eagle, and others. Staying with Eagle hunter, you can learn some skills. Overnights in wooden house. (BLD). Last day, afternoon, drive about 160 km and reach Olgii. Overnight in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD)



Day 14




Fly to UB




Early breakfast and transfer to Olgii airport. Fly back to UB about 3hrs. Transfer to 4* hotel. (B) You will have a full day to explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic and exciting commerce. There’s plenty to see, do and eat – your guide will recommend some of the best places to dine at 





Day 15





Depart UB





After early breakfast, transfer to Olgii airport. Leave only foot prints & take only lifetime of memories home from your Mongolian adventure.
