|Arrive Olgii and meet local guide. Transfer to Blue Wolf office for tour-briefing. Lunch and visit the local museum of Olgii city with comprehensive information of flora and fauna of Bayan-Olgii aimag as well as it is colorful traditional customs. |Come to Eagle Festival place and meet the Kazakh Eagle Hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are roughly 400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Olgii aimag. The eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival days, we also will see some Kazakh Traditional Horseback games such like "Bush Kushi" (try to take out from each other a killed big goat on horseback), "Kiss woman on horseback", "Pick up coins from the land on horseback" and others. Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd Nat. Park
|Early breakfast and we drive (4-5 hours) to west along Tsagaan Gol River and come to Shiveet Hairhan Mountain near Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks, where numerous Tuvan nomads live. Shiveet Hairhan Mountain is Holy and sacred for them and no hunting. Here you can see a lot of Siberian Ibex and the biggest rock-printing from the period of the Huns (approx. 200 B.C.). Huns were the reason of the Chinese Emperor to build the Great Wall of China. Overnight in tent/wooden house with a family. (BLD)|
Hike to Malchin Peak
|We drive few more hours and reach the road end near the block-post. We will load our equipment on the pack camels and trek for 16 km towards the base-camp of the snow-capped Tavan Bogd massif. We will pitch a camp next to Potanin Glacier- the biggest glacier of Altai Mountains. Tavan bogd means "Holy Five" referring to the five highest peaks (Huiten uul- the highest peak 4374 m). Quite considerable height at this latitude.|
The other peaks are named Nairamdal, Burkit, Naran and Olgii. It is a stunning setting in awe-inspiring massif of high snow capped peaks.
Second day, 6-8 hours hike up and down Malchin Peak (4025 m). It is non-technical climb. Overnights in tent.
Third day, walk down to the road end. Drive back to Olgii. Overnight in local hotel/ger of the tourist camp. (BLD)
