The experience of wild birds training was gained by Kazakh kusbegi by centuries, the secrets were impacted from the father to the son and kept deep secret. Altai Mountains is the highest of three major mountain ranges in Mongolia, straddling the Russian and Chinese frontiers in the Far West. Mountains of eternal snowcapped mountains and glaciers. This dramatic journey will bring us to Mongolia’s highest mountain region. We will trek to the Potanin glacier supported by pack camels and locals. We will then continue across the high Altai and trek into the lakes region, next to the Chinese frontier. Local Kazakh herdsmen will keep their priced Golden Eagles next to their yurts.







Day

1





Arrive Olgii and meet Eagle Hunter







Arrive by air at Olgii airport and meet by our crew (Eng. Speaking guide and driver). Drive to west (2-3 hours). Reach Kazakh nomadic families. You have 6 full hours to spend with Eagle Hunter and his magnificent bird. Learn some hunting skills and take a photos. Evening drive back to Olgii. Overnight in local hotel. (LD)







Day 2














Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd Massif











Early breakfast and we drive (4-5 hours) to west along Tsagaan Gol River and come to Shiveet Hairhan Mountain near Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks, where numerous Tuvan nomads live. Shiveet Hairhan Mountain is Holy and sacred for them and no hunting. Here you can see a lot of Siberian Ibex and the biggest rock-printing from the period of the Huns (approx. 200 B.C.). Huns were the reason of the Chinese Emperor to build the Great Wall of China. After lunch, drive few hours (20 km ) and come to the road end. Overnight in tent/wooden house with a family. (BLD)



Day 3




Horse ride along Potanin Glacier





Today we make a horse ride about 15 km to our base-camp, located on the edge of Potanin Glacier and enjoy scenery. Tavan Bogd means "the holy five", referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul 4374 m above sea level is the highest in Mongolia, a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. 4-5 hours horse ride and come back to the road end. Drive back to Olgii. Overnight in local hotel/the ger of the tourist camp. (BLD)
