ALTAI EAGLE FESTIVAL 2022 
Altai Eagle Festival of Mongolia is one of the rarest festivals in the world. Over 60 Kazakh Eagle hunters and Kazakh nomads participate to showcase their traditional culture. One of last remaining autenthic culture of Kazakhs&#8217; takes place in the western Mongolia. These hardy Turkic speaking people are Sunni Muslim nomads and they hunt foxes and other small mammals with domestic Golden Eagles.
The eagle festival marks the start of the eagle hunting season, which is throughout the winter in the surrounding Altai Mountains. Hunting with eagles seems to be ancient, dating back some 6000 years. These traditions have been revived over the past two decades following the democratization in Mongolia. Now there are such festivals in March, September and October in various communities.
Notes on safety
Following are few tips to keep in mind to ensure safety of your own and travel companions, while participating in this extraordinary festival. Eagles are not pets and we ask you take extra precaution when getting in close contact with the eagles.

<li>When you are in the competition field, please make sure to stand only in the designated public viewing areas,</li>
<li>It&#8217; better not to wear any clothing that has an animal fur such as hat or sleeves and any loose or bright colored clothing as they might attract eagles,</li>
<li>During the competition when eagles are released from the mountain, avoid running in the same field as it might distract the birds,</li>
<li>If you have children, please do not let them wander on their own,</li>
<li>While the competition is on, leaving designated areas to get a closer photo shoot of the eagles is not recommended</li>

Gobi (Southern Mongolia) 

The clay from the former shores, hills, and soil of the Cretaceous period look like they are on fire during the sunrise and sunset. You may feel like you are on a different planet. But it’s actually the southern region of Mongolia or Gobi Desert. Dinosaur fossils from millions of years ago still can be found here. Most are small and often hidden by Saxaul forests, which are ubiquitous with the Gobi, so you may pass them by without noticing. Desert plants look dry and withered but capable to store the rainwater for a long period of time due to their tenacity to survive in arid lands.  Even though the footprint you made in a sand dunes can be erased by a wind, but the footprint of the Gobi desert will stay in your heart forever.

Kazakhstan has 9th the largest territory in the world (2,724,900km2), with the population of only 17 million. Major part of the country are horizonless steppes, deserts and mountains that house thousands species of animals and birds.
Kazakhstan is the largest country in the world which has no access to the World Ocean; however the territory of Kazakhstan is washed by land-locked seas: the Caspian and Aral ones. The nature of Kazakhstan is beautiful in its own way. It is severe, since the majority of the territory consists of deserts 164,000,000 ha (44%) and semi-deserts (14%). Only 26% of the territory is occupied by steppe zones and 5,5% (21,000,000 ha) by forest ones. There is Sary-Arka – a “yellow steppe” in the central part of the country and the Turgai plateau to the west from it. The territory of Kazakhstan is so vast that it occupies the Urals in the West and the Altai and Tarbagatai in the East. The Ustyurt plateau and the Caspian sea coast are located in the South-West. The eastern part of Kazakhstan reaches the northern Tien-Shan.
Almaty, Kazakhstan&#8217;s largest metropolis, is set in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains. It served as the country&#8217;s capital until 1997 and remains Kazakhstan&#8217;s trading and cultural hub. Landmarks include the Central State Museum, displaying thousands of historic Kazakh artifacts. In the center is Panfilov Park, home to the bright-yellow towers of Zenkov Cathedral, a tsarist-era Russian Orthodox church.

The experience of wild birds training was gained by Kazakh kusbegi by centuries, the secrets were impacted from the father to the son and kept deep secret. At the present time we can meet few people with such name. These masters have innate gift of wild birds training. For a hunting they tame falcons, golden eagles and eagles. Names of birds are given depending on their appearance and battle characteristics. The hunting with Golden Eagle are during ten centuries. Camel Supported Trek on Tsambagarav Uul
The Altai Mountains, with eternal snow-capped peaks and glaciers, are the highest of the three major mountain ranges in Mongolia. Tsamba- garav Mountain is a stand alone eternally snow capped mountain of the Altais between Hovd and Ölgii with the twin peaks of Tsast and Tsambagarav. The name Altai, in Mongolian Altain Nuruu, translates as &#8220;Mountains of Gold&#8221; . The Altai Mountains has been classed as a World Heritage Site since 1998, due to the outstanding wildlife habitats here. In this remote region the traditional way of life has remained un- disturbed and there are many nomads of different ethnic minorities residing. For example the Kazakhs who are Muslims and the Tuvans who are Buddhist and shamanistic. This trek will bring us to the Roof of Mongolia, the highest mountain region in the country, where we will trek supported by locals, horses and pack camels.
